Before the Rain, landscpae with bald eagle
About This Painting:
Plein air painting, Lori McNamara and I got rained out. Some of the painting was distorted slightly, but most of it held up with the rain water all over it. I repainted parts of it and also finished it at home. The eagle was off to the right of this area. Lori got a great picture of him (see below). I moved him to the left so I could include him in my painting.
Ready to frame.
Media: acrylic on hardboard
Size: 6 in X 6 in (15.2 cm X 15.2 cm)
Price: $100 USD

Daily Painting 1051 Rained out in the Savannas! Plein Air Alla Prima
Went out today and the sky looked pretty much like the painting when I got there but that big cloud in the background got closer and closer and pretty soon it began pouring. I took some photos too, the first one you can see the drops and the dead tree in the distance with a bird on it. I zoomed in on the bird and when I got home I saw it was a bald eagle!
I just checked the painting, it survived fine, the rain drops on it are all dried up. I was under a pavilion with fellow Daily Painter Fawn McNeil it was nice painting with her even though it was raining. The painting is 8 x 10 oil, on masonite $300.

Slip, Slop and Slap
I just read a wonderful reminder from...get this...my insurance company. The leaflet suggests that anyone venturing outdoors should "Slip, Slop and Slap".
...that would mean Slip on a shirt, Slop on sunscreen and Slap on a hat. Sounds like good advice for us plein air painters.
