I did this one awhile ago, had to tweak it a bit. Its 8 x 10 inches, oil on masonite. It started out very stormy, it rained
the whole way from Ft. Pierce to the House of Refuge. It was starting
to clear here but there were still storm clouds in the sky.

1530 Live Oak on the Indian River Plein Air, Alla Prima
I
had a great time painting today at the old Fort Park with the Plein Air
Painters of the Treasure Coast. I had a nice turnout and the weather
was perfect. This old oak is on the river side of the road, I took some
liberties with it, there is a total jungle to the right of the tree in
real life.
The painting is 8 x 10 inches, oil on masonite. $250.

some honeysuckles, I saw a few humming birds flying around in them
while I was painting. It was a nice day.
The painting is 8 x 10 inches, oil on masonite, $250.

1523 Tropical Blue Bamboo Plein Air Alla Prima
I
painted this today at the Heathcote Botanical Gardens in the Gloria
Moore Memorial garden. It was perfect today, not too hot or cold. I
took a few liberties with the plant positions, in real life there is a
nice screw palm that I have painted before. Its right in front of the
bamboo. I was enjoying doing the in and out lights and darks of the
bamboo that I didn't want to cover my work with another big plant.
Its 8 x 10 inches, oil on masonite.

1497 The Pink House on 2nd Street
I haven't been posting lately, I haven't been feeling too great, the
arthritis-lupus combo flared up and did a number on my energy and
mood. I am feeling a bit better, going to try and get back in gear.
This was done back in April on the 20th. And the 26th of April too. If you closely at the bottom picture, you can see the water all over it, it got rained on. So I wasn't quite finished.
You can click on the photos to see them better. The top one is the finished one, I tweaked it a bit.
Its pretty much still a plein air but can't call it alla prima any more.
Its oil on masonite, 8 x 10 inches. $300.

1496 By the North Fork Boat Ramp Plein Air Alla Prima oil painting
I did this as the first painting of the Souvenirs of Downtown paintout, they let us paint where ever we wanted to. I went here to White City park, its nice and shady and cool. I have painted this scene before, its a place that is close to my heart, my dad and I would put our outboard motor boat in the water here and go boating in the St. Lucie river. We would always see turtles and usually alligators as well.
The painting is 12 x 16 inches, oil on masonite. $500.

1493 Herbs at Heathcote Plein Air Alla Prima
This
is in the herb garden at Heathcote Botanical gardens. I painted it a
couple of weeks ago and just now got around to posting, my non-painting
side of life has been getting in the way lately.
Last night's disaster was the hot water heater decided to start leaking. I am not sure how long it was leaking because the heater is in the garage. There was a half inch of water in most of the garage. I was up till midnight last night swabbing out water and most of today moving things around in there. I got sticky-sweaty and have a nice cold shower to look forward to tonight. Good news is they are supposed to instal a new one tomorrow. More good news is nothing that got wet mattered or at least what I have found did. I also got rid of a bunch of junk. More of that tomorrow too.
Back to the painting, it was one of those days where you start out with lots of layers and then start peeling them off. I think it would have been better to paint today and clean the garage that day. Its 8 x 10 inches, oil on masonite, $300.

1479 Oak Tree at Adams Ranch plein air
I
started this one at the ranch on the Saturday paintout. I liked how the
Spanish moss looked blowing in the breeze. There were a few things I
needed to tweak, it wasn't done 100 percent on location. About 99
percent. I like it a lot better now. Its 11 x 14 inches, oil on

1477 Morning At Adams Ranch
Art
Mundo had its first paintout of the year here at Adams ranch. I got up
early, a bit crabby, I haven't been having the best of nights lately.
My dog Whisker's medications are making him get us up to take him out at
3 or 4 am in the morning lately.
I got to the ranch at 7:15 about, its 48 degrees, chilly with patchy fog, it looks cool, I don't see that much where I live. I drove round and round, there are lots of places to drive there, its fun and bumpy dirt roads, I am glad I have a jeep. I wasn't inspired started looking for some friends to paint with. Saw this road and ended up by this waterway. My friends Betsy and Fran were there so I had good company. A herd of cows came by too, right under those trees to the left. We saw two baby alligators too. I was in a much better mood!
Photos below are how it looked early in the morning, cows where I painted, gator, and the scene I painted. I believe I started painting 8 or 9 am, finished it around 12:30 or so. It was very bright out, the palms were very dark against the morning sky. If you click the photos they will get larger.
