First Plein Air Day Out to Paint

The look on my face explains it all....how happy to be outside painting. I thought winter would last forever. This was the second attempt that day. I stayed after BJ, Tim, and Sherry left to finish it up. We were painting at the Tunnel Hill Civil War Re enactment site and BJ was telling us stories of General's legs that didn't get buried with the body. Come join us!

"At the Battle of Chickamauga, Hood's division broke the Federal line at the Brotherton Cabin, which led to the defeat of General William Rosecrans's Union army. However, Hood was once again wounded severely, and his right leg was amputated four inches below the hip. His condition was so grave that the surgeon sent his severed leg along with Hood in the ambulance, assuming that they would be buried together."....from Wikipedia....

General Hood was treated in the Confederate hospital which had been set up at the Clisby Austin house in Tunnel Hill, GA, and he survived his wounds. His severed leg is buried nearby the house.
