I am always drawn to the marshlands near my home... in fact... I never tire of painting them. I painted this scene on location en plein aire at the Cedar Point branch of the Croatan National Forest in eastern North Carolina. A great place to kayak, hike, camp, and PAINT! May this painting bring you the peace I experienced painting it.
This original oil painting by American Artist, Bernie Rosage Jr. is available for purchase... click HERE to check on details...

Scattering of Sunshine by BJ Wright - SOLD
10"x8" oil on Raymar panel, painted en plein air, alla prima, on October 12th (completed at 11:15am) - SOLD - The sun didn't break through the scattered clouds until after 9:00 on that Sunday morning at Prater's Mill Country Fair. When I began laying in the basic shapes, my sight line into the woods was clear. As the morning progressed, dozens of people eating freshly baked goodies crowded around the picnic tables. I was popping my head up and down - like "Whack a Mole" - to see my subject as I worked to finish this painting. For purchase, contact me at beejw@charter.net.

Hidden Trail by BJ Wright
6" x 8" oil on RayMar panel, painted en plein air, alla prima, on Saturday, October 11th at Prater's Mill Country Fair (completed at 11am) - $50 including shipping - This was my first year as an artist exhibitor at the annual Prater's Mill Country Fair. I set up my easel early after opening my tent, hoping to catch the sunlight as it hit the trees. The morning was overcast and I was somewhat disappointed that no "Autumn blaze" was showing. I laid in the dark basics and shadows -- and waited. It wasn't until mid-morning that the sun broke through and showed the beginnings of what will be glorious Northwest Georgia foliage colors. Contact me for purchase.

Daily Painting 709 Florida Fall in the Savannas plein air alla prima
Sutler Tents by BJ Wright
8"x10" oil on RayMar panel, painted en plein air, alla prima, on September 7th, during the "Battle of Tunnel Hill" Civil War reenactment - $85 including shipping -
Sunday morning sutlers were preparing their tents for customers - both reenactors and visitors. Fall colors were beginning to show in the trees as the morning sun streamed across the meadow. Eleven Southern plein air painters captured similar scenes during this weekend of the Worldwide Paintout. Contact me at beejw@charter.net for purchase. Here's the Wikipedia definition of "sutler"... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sutler

Across the Meadow by BJ Wright
8"x10" oil on RayMar panel, painted en plein air, alla prima - $85 including shipping but not including frame - contact me at beejw@charter.net for purchase -
The purples in shadow and the yellow-green grasses caught my attention when I visited Meadowlawn several weeks ago. I stood just behind the fence barricade at Fort Keys as I painted the shack. I even included a few fence boards in the foreground.

Atlantic Station
This was painted on-site this weekend at Atlantic Station in Midtown Atlanta. I loved the orange reflections in the lake from the apartment buildings. The trees were starting to show the same orange. I pushed the colors and like how it turned out.

Daily Painting 702 Oleanders and Palms at Pepper Park Plein Air
Meadowlawn Morning by BJ Wright
11"x14" oil on stretched canvas, begun en plein air - still in process....
I've worked on this painting on three separate occasions, but it still isn't completed. It's been in my car more times than that....propped up in the back seat, taken out, viewed on this site, returned to its resting place to be reviewed again. I'm not sure what's going on, but I know the painting will tell me what it needs to be considered complete.
Once again the subject of a painting is Fort Keys, located at the Tunnel Hill battlefield. I've painted this clump of trees and rolling meadow numerous times, but it still holds endless possibilities.

Burt's Pumpkin Farm
Monday a student and I drove to Dawsonville. There I was able to make use of the Cadmium Orange I seldom place on the palette. We stayed all day eating pumpkin bread and apple pies. I searched for a pumpkin with a curly stem. They are rare there. Maybe next time we can go to the field. We were told it was 20 miles away down on a creek bank. Sounded exciting but we were already there and eager to capture the light. What a fun day!

Daily Painting 698 Stormy Morning by the Ocean Plein Air
Its finally getting cool enough for me to paint outside again. Its 8 x 10, oil. I went to Pepper Park and got rained out. My husband was holding the umbrella over me the last few minutes. I didn't have to worry about getting too hot or sunburnt. This is a similar view to yesterday's painting but that was from a photo and this one was from life. $300.
Old Barn Plein Air by Bernie Rosage Jr.

This old barn was a joy to paint for two reasons...
#1... It's sentimental value. I grew up just down the road from this old barn that belonged to my great uncle. My brother and I along with other kids who lived nearby spent many hours playing in and around it.
#2... I painted this one en plein aire with My lil' painting buddy, Olivia
This original oil painting is available for purchase via auction at eBay... click HERE... to bid. (Auction begins Sept. 27th and ends Oct. 4th)
