Daily Painting 601 Round Island Park, Plein Air, Alla Prima
We had an interesting time at Round Island today, after I painted this painting, artist Glenn Brill gave an interesting presentation on Gamblin paints and mediums. The painting has Gamblin radiant blue in the sky and cobalt teal in the ocean. The painting is 8 x 10, oil, painting knife painted with lots of texture.

Daily Painting 600!!!!!!!! Me Painting
I got to another milestone, whew! I know its not plein air but since it is a painting of me painting outside, figured it would be all right to post. I didn't get into trouble last time I did this ;oD.
I didn't quite finish, we had a nice Memorial Day picnic with relatives over. I am wore out, it was a lovely day. I have quite a bit of tweaking to do, its coming along pretty well. Not for sale. Its 8 x 10, oil.

Heart of Florida Paintings
Richardson Farm
Evinston Florida
12x16 inches
oil on panel
I have been terrible about posting. I apologise. In the summer I stay in my studio, working on research and writing. I am writing a book about plein air painting this summer. This painting was one of the recent paint out paintings done in Evinston.

Linda

Tennessee Baptist Children's Home Art Show and Sale
Here's a shot of the booth showing some plein air paintings exhibited at the Arts Festival on Friday and Saturday.
The little red painting sold. The traffic was scarce both days. The forefront painting was done on location in Royer, France in acrylics. I just love that frame.

Acrylic on canvas
ready to frame
This is older painting that I did on location a few years ago, before I started posting on line. I was really into thin layers of paint, then sealing them with a varnish. When all the craze came out with the watercolor canvases I moved on to something else.
I was in Fort Pierce with Lori McNamara. It actually started raining off and on. I loved the effect it created in the background, so as it dried I added the thicker layers of foliage over the top.
Thanks for looking!

Path to Honeymoon Beach by Jenna Star
Honeymoon Island continues to be one of my favorite painting spots. This view is of a path leading to the beach on the south side of the island. I am always drawn to places near water, and the gulf here is a beautiful turquoise blue.

Sweetwater Creek State Park
I painted at Sweetwater Creek on Saturday. Two pretty different "looks". Both are 11x14" watercolors.
This vignette was trying to capture the Mountain Laurel in bloom --
It was pretty tough hauling both my mother's and my painting gear 1.5 miles through the rocky, hilly terrain to reach the ruins but it was a wonderful day.

Congratulations, BJ!
B.J. hasn't mentioned this, but she was the focus of an article in the Chattanooga Times FreePress Monday about Red Clay Park with a photo of her painting on site. (See her earlier post about painting there) Way to go, B.J.! Sandra Babb and Jo Thomas were also mentioned, but weren't on location just yet.

Had a great time last Saturday at a local Living History event... this plein air was the result. A bit of a challenge with the wind... the flag was really blowing that steady...

Pastel painting of the Park Office at Red Clay about 2/3 finished? The forground trees still need some work! I filled in the window paintings with some color also.

Eternal Flame at Red Clay by BJ Wright
Today was windy at Red Clay State Park. I had to tape my canvas to the easel so it didn't fly away! This painting isn't quite finished yet - needs some tweaking here and there. The painting on my easel is standing in the shade, so it appears darker than the trees. The subject is the eternal flame located on a knoll overlooking the council house. I may return in a few days, painting in hand, to finish.
Red Clay is a wonderful place to visit. It's quiet - a great place to get away from the rest of the world.
