Facing East as the sun rises across the sky isn't something I usually do while painting en plein air. But this morning the distant hills were shrouded in mist and held the most beautiful purples. The sun was showing a new grass green on the meadow, making the shadows seem even darker. Dead foliage and twigs seemed to accentuate the Summer greens.
