I think our blog needs some sun shine...12x12 oil, Still using black.....I found something interesting...black (not a mix) is very important to landscape painting, especially when you want to nail the actual green and blue colours.....

Sun shine, moon beam - I love it all! I hope you continue posting your plein air studies, even though you'll be working on larger studio pieces.
I'm just doing a little less of it, I had some branches and some small trees removed....they were getting in the way of my view.
I'm on my first 30x40 of the James @ sunset, at first it wasss....BIG, now I really like the size. Going into my third day tomorrow....my Plein Air work at James rapids is really pay off...it has rapids and 10 figures in it.
On one of my posts I describe a paint brush by Royal...short handle...with a fat grip....at the local store they are 2.98 any size. They are really good brushes, durable, keep they shape, the liner is especially good. I thought you might like this brush....let me know
I'll look for the Royal brushes soon. Buying brushes is addictive...I have so many. But then I guess you can't have too many good brushes. Take care of them and they last a long time.
And I'm looking forward to seeing your finished 30x40 James River painting. Let us know where we can see it online.
Or (here's a thought) you might post some thumbnails of your reference studies and the finished studio painting, showing how an artist goes from a field study to a large studio work.

The brush....because I use Copal and if I don't clean with soap they will get stiff by morning. Dip in mineral aggressive rubbing with a cloth...good to go...now I wash them...don't loose shape as sable...almost like a bristle but softer... nice for both our styles....now ask me if I own stock in Royal:=))))
