Southern Moon # 101

First of three moon studies 8x10 12:30 Am 7/9/09

The sky was not clear, but had a very thin cloud veil, it gave the moon a very soft look.

I love this moon painting! I did a series of full moon paintings a few years ago. Each full moon has its own (or several) names. The history there is fascinating.

If you intend to do the full moons, they will sneak up on you. I had a gadget on my homepage to help me keep track of moon phases.

I found it rises 30 minutes to 1 hour later each night...you'll see it in my painting time...I didn't pick it up right away. It also has a following star. It was in the south when I started, now it's more east and over head. Do you know what the gadget was....

I have a Google home page. The gadget is at http://www.moonconnection.com/moon_gadget.phtml#rt2ig1_1247695778
I guess just the www.moonconnection.com site will give info about the gadget for your particular home page.
