Which Way to Lookout Mountain? by BJ Wright

8" x 10" oil on canvas covered hardboard - painted en plein air -
Sandra and I set up our easels in a cow pasture - complete with cows - in the August morning heat. Trying to catch the shadows before they disappeared was quite a challenge. This will be a study used for a larger painting. I'm not really happy with the tree on the right. He'll probably be cut out - not cut down - for the final painting. Too many trees are being cut down in the name of progress. 'Nuff said.

I like it a lot BJ! That tree is cool, how you have its trunk light in color in front of the dark.

The sun was really starting to beat down, so there were lots of lights to show up the shadows. Thanks for the boost :o)

Hey BJ, I'm liking the tree. Also love the colors in your foliage. I'm still going out to paint a couple of times a week also--but there are days (like today!)where it's almost torture.

Thanks, Jenna! This time of year in N GA it's green, green, green. It's sometimes a real challenge to find the 'hidden' colors in the greens.
